If your song is not showing up on TikTok, first separate a delivery problem from a search or access problem. Confirm TikTok was selected in your distributor dashboard, search the exact artist and title in the sound picker, and check your account type. If you have a sound link, open it directly and record any error.
Working through those checks gives you a better support request than “my song is missing.” It also helps avoid unnecessary re-uploads.
Is the song missing, unavailable, or muted?
These problems can look similar while you are preparing a post. Start by describing what you see.
| Symptom | First check | Useful evidence |
|---|---|---|
| No result in search | Confirm TikTok delivery and search artist and title separately. | Delivery status, search terms, and screenshots. |
| A link opens, but you cannot select the sound | Check the account’s library access and the exact message. | Sound link, account type, region, and screenshot. |
| You find several versions | Listen and compare the recording and artist credit. | Links to the entries and the intended version’s ISRC. |
| The sound says it is unavailable | Record the message before taking another action. | Sound link, affected region, date, and release identifier. |
| An existing post is muted | Read the notice on that post and check available next steps. | Post link, removal reason, and any appeal reference. |
Do not describe a track as removed when you only have a search miss. Equally, finding a title in search does not prove that you can use its audio.
1. Confirm that TikTok received the release
Open the release in your distributor dashboard. Look for the selected destinations, status, and any delivery errors. A Spotify link proves the recording is available on Spotify; it does not prove TikTok delivery.
If TikTok was never selected, follow the provider’s instructions for adding a destination to an existing release. Our setup guide walks through the checks.
If delivery is still processing, consult the distributor’s current guidance or support. There is no single waiting period that resolves every missing-track problem. Record when the delivery was requested so support can assess your case.
DistroKid’s missing-music guidance includes processing and search visibility among the things to check. Use your own provider’s dashboard as the starting point.
2. Search inside the sound picker
Try the exact title and artist name, then each separately. Include a version name if your release has one. Open plausible matches and listen.
Search can return a popular track with the same title, a creator’s original sound, or another version of your recording. Save links to confusing matches rather than relying on screenshots of the names alone.
If someone has already used the intended library sound, open the sound attached to their post. A working direct link is useful evidence that the entry exists even when your search does not surface it.
3. Check account access before changing distribution
If the picker mainly shows commercial sounds, examine your account type. TikTok’s account guidance states that Business Accounts lack access to the general music library.
That is a library-access issue, not necessarily failed delivery. Record it before contacting the distributor. Choose an account type suited to your actual activity; do not treat switching accounts as a workaround for music permissions.
A collaborator’s account can help you compare what is visible, but avoid treating one successful test as proof of availability everywhere. Record the region and account type for each check.
That matches TikTok’s Commercial Music Library help (updated July 2026): Business Accounts see only Commercial Sounds when they tap Add Sound, while personal accounts see all sounds. Switching the account type is a library-access fix, not a distribution fix.
4. Read unavailable-sound and removal messages
If a direct sound link produces an availability message, capture the exact wording. Send the distributor the link, your region, the release details, and the date of the check. Ask whether there is a delivery or rights-related restriction they can investigate.
If an existing post has been muted, open its notice. TikTok’s removed-sound guidance describes its review process, including appeals where available. Follow the route shown for your case.
A missing search result, a restricted library entry, and a removed original sound do not call for the same fix. Repeatedly posting the same audio does not establish why it was unavailable.
5. Check whether you are using a separate original sound
If you uploaded a video with music already mixed into it, inspect the sound attached to that post. It may differ from the distributor-delivered library entry.
For new campaign posts, select the intended library track when that is your goal. For a live performance or alternate recording, keep the distinction clear in your description and instructions. You want collaborators to know which recording they are being asked to use.
Send support a request they can investigate
Copy and complete this template:
- Artist and exact song title:
- Recording version and ISRC:
- Distributor release ID:
- Release date:
- TikTok delivery status and date requested:
- TikTok sound link, if available:
- Affected post link, if relevant:
- Account type and region:
- Exact error or search behavior:
- Checks already completed:
Finish with a specific question: “Can you confirm that this recording was delivered to TikTok and investigate why this sound link is unavailable in my region?”
Attach the screenshots that support that question. This is more useful than a long account of every promotional post you planned.
Should you delete and upload the song again?
Start with support and the available edit process. Re-uploading can create more versions to identify and may not address the underlying issue.
DistroKid advises submitting supported metadata edits while a release remains live. Other providers have their own procedures. Ask what needs correcting before replacing a release.
A worked support request: search miss versus unavailable sound
Illustrative scenario: an artist can open a direct library link for the fictional single “Blue Hour,” but cannot find it by title. Their draft support request should describe that difference, rather than ask for another delivery immediately.
| Field | Example entry |
|---|---|
| Release identity | Blue Hour — artist name, distributor release ID and the recording’s actual ISRC. |
| What works | The saved sound URL opens and plays on the artist’s account. |
| What fails | Searching the exact artist and title in the sound picker returns no matching entry. |
| Conditions | Record the actual account type, country, app version, date and error text; attach screenshots. |
| Question for support | Can you check indexing/search visibility for this delivered entry before I request another upload? |
If the direct link instead says the sound is unavailable, replace the “what works” line with that exact failure and note whether another authorized tester sees it too. Do not invent identifiers or publish private support/account details. This packet makes the fault reproducible without claiming that search, availability and distribution are the same problem.
Questions about missing TikTok songs
My song is on Spotify. Why is it not on TikTok?
They are separate destinations. Check whether TikTok delivery was selected and completed, then investigate sound search and account access.
Another person can find it. Why can’t I?
Compare the sound link, account type, region, and exact message. Those details help support investigate the difference; they do not establish the cause by themselves.
Can I promote the song while this is being fixed?
You can use other channels and prepare creative assets. Hold requests asking fans to select a specific TikTok sound until you can give them a working route.
Why does TikTok only show commercial sounds when I add music?
Your account is most likely set to Business. TikTok says Business Accounts only see sounds from the Commercial Music Library when they tap Add Sound. Personal accounts see the full library, including distributed releases.
Why can I find my song for videos but not photo posts?
Check the account type first; the same library limit applies to any post. If you’re on a Personal account and it’s still missing, search the exact title and artist name and contact support with the release details above.
